Egnyte iOS App for Intune V 9.1 - New Homepage and AI Voice Commands

External Release Notes: iOS App for Intune v 9.1 (December 10, 2025)

New Features and Enhancements

Updated Intune SDK

The Egnyte mobile app has been updated to the latest Microsoft Intune App SDK (version 21.2.0), enhancing security and ensuring app protection policies are consistently applied.

Important:  With the upgrade to the Intune SDK (Version 21.0.0), a new App Registration requirement has been enforced. This change will eventually cause users who authenticated on previous app versions to be prompted for a mandatory re-authentication (sign-in again):

-Reason for Prompt: When a user's current valid session expires, the app will be unable to silently refresh the access token, which forces a sign-in. The timing of this is governed by the organization’s Intune policy settings (Offline Grace Period).
-Required User Action: Immediate re-authentication is required when the sign-in prompt appears.
-Consequence of Delay: Failure to sign back in or ignoring the prompt beyond the period defined by the organization's policy may result in a selective wipe of the Egnyte data within the app.

The Egnyte for Intune app has been updated to match the latest version of the Egnyte iOS app (v9.1), giving users access to the following features:

User Homepage on iOS

The Egnyte iOS for Intune Mobile App now features a customizable homepage, providing quick access to frequently used files, tasks, and tools to reduce navigation time.

Widgets for Files & Folders, Recent Files, Egnyte Copilot, Tasks, Smart Upload, and Recent Project Folders are included and can be added, hidden, reordered, and resized. Users can also adjust the homepage theme.

This feature is supported on iOS 18 or later. The Egnyte Copilot, Recent Projects, and Smart Upload widgets are only available to customers whose current Egnyte plan includes these features.

Voice Input for AI Chats

The Egnyte Mobile App for Intune now offers voice input for AI Chats, including AI-Driven Document Summarization & Document Q&A and Knowledge Bases. This allows users to speak prompts instead of typing them, providing a more natural interaction with AI assistance.

A microphone icon is available in supported chats, transcribing speech in real-time. If a pause of more than three seconds occurs, recording stops automatically, and the transcription can be reviewed and edited. Recording can be resumed manually by tapping the microphone icon, and the prompt can then be submitted.

Currently, voice input is supported only in English.

Egnyte Sign Enhancements

    • Streamlined Initials and Signature Workflow
The Egnyte Sign experience on iOS for Intune has been improved, allowing users to reuse saved initials, similar to full signatures. When filling out multiple fields, the app now auto-fills subsequent signature and initial fields with the last used version. Users can also easily access the saved or create view if a field is cleared.
    • Redirecting Qualified Signatures to Mobile Browser
Egnyte Sign on Mobile iOS for Intune now redirects qualified (Part 11-compatible) signature requests to the mobile browser. This ensures that signatures requiring enhanced compliance are completed in the appropriate browser-based workflow, while standard eSignature requests continue to be handled directly in the app.

Support for Domain Restricted Link Sharing on iOS

Domain-based link sharing restrictions are now supported in the iOS for Intune app. Users will be notified if recipients belong to blocked domains when sharing links, ensuring compliance with company policies.

This feature is available to customers on Enterprise Lite, Enterprise, Life Sciences, Document Room, GxP and all Next Gen plans.  Contact your account manager or Egnyte Sales team for more information.

New Download Storage Limits and File Size Warnings

Storage and network policies have been updated to align with modern connectivity standards and better accommodate current devices. This change is now available to all users and provides more control over downloads. Users can now allocate 2 GB, 10 GB, or unlimited storage for downloads. File size warnings can also be set for files over 100 MB or 500 MB, or turned off entirely.

Support for Preview Insights Engagement Data

The Egnyte iOS Mobile App now supports sending engagement data to the Preview Insights feature, providing a more comprehensive view of how content is consumed by including interactions from mobile app users. Statistics are available via the WebUI to users with Editor permissions or higher for the file's folder.

End of Support for iOS 16

Egnyte will no longer support iOS 16 in the Egnyte iOS app. Users on iOS 16 will no longer receive app updates, new features, or bug fixes. To continue receiving updates and support, users are recommended to update to the latest available iOS version for their device.

Offline Feature Enhancements (Limited Availability)

  • The Offline tab has been redesigned to align with the app's overall look and feel, offering a consistent experience with other views. For the best experience, it is recommended that offline files and folders be marked again after the new app version is installed.
  • A new auto-update option has been introduced for files and folders marked for offline access. When enabled and the device is online, cloud updates are automatically applied at key moments: when the app is launched, when it returns to the foreground, when an offline-marked folder is opened or refreshed, when the Offline tab is accessed, upon login, and when switching to an account that becomes the active user.

This feature is currently in Limited Availability for all customers. To request this feature, contact our Products team.

Escalations and Key Issues Addressed

"Upload to Egnyte” Option in Intune App

The Upload to Egnyte option was missing from the iOS photo picker in the Egnyte for Intune app, preventing users from uploading photos directly. This issue has been resolved and the option is now available again.

PDF Preview Fixes and Performance Improvements

Version 9.1 for Intune resolves an issue where very large PDF files (over 200 MB) could cause the app to close unexpectedly during preview on iOS. This release also includes a series of general improvements and stability updates, enhancing overall app performance and responsiveness. PDF opening, viewing, annotation, and page management have been further optimized to deliver greater reliability and a smoother experience across all PDF-related features.

Folder Navigation from Salesforce Integration

Previously, when launching the Egnyte mobile app from Salesforce using the Open folder with Egnyte app action, the intended folder was only briefly displayed before redirecting to the Egnyte homepage, especially when the Egnyte app was not running in the background. The app now correctly opens and remains on the target folder after redirection, ensuring continuity when accessing Egnyte folders from Salesforce.

Offline Video Playback Fix

Offline videos failed to play or stopped after a few seconds when local storage encryption was enabled.

Egnyte Sign Fixes

Issues affecting document signing on iOS for Intune have been addressed. Signature and initials fields are now responsive, and all expected input options (Draw, Type, Upload) display consistently, ensuring a smooth signing experience.

Unexpected Logout on Second Mobile Device

Users were occasionally deauthorized on one mobile device after logging in on another due to both devices sharing the same device ID (for example, after restoring from backup).

Unable to Open Shortcut Links on iOS for Intune

Shortcut link files created from the Windows Desktop App would not open in the iOS app. The Open in Browser option now correctly redirects to the intended webpage.

Auto-Update Not Triggered After File is Moved

Offline files that were moved to a different folder did not auto-update unless the target folder was visited. The app now correctly updates the file in the background without requiring navigation to the new location.

Offline Folder Path Not Updated After Move

Moving an offline folder caused it to retain the old path, preventing updates. The folder now reflects the correct path and continues to auto-update as expected.

Known Issues and Limitations

There are a few distinctions in functionality between the Egnyte for Intune app and its regular counterpart:

Disabled Features

Conditional Features

  • Image Markups
Disabled by default but can be enabled if the Send organizational data to other apps setting is configured as All apps in the Intune app protection policy.
