We have updated the Egnyte iOS application to improve the document scanning experience by integrating a new scanning framework. This enhancement addresses previous limitations and offers a more streamlined and efficient scanning process.

Key Improvements:

  • Multi-Page Scanning: Users can now scan multiple pages in a single session, eliminating the need to scan one page at a time.
  • Automatic Scanning: The scanner now automatically detects and captures documents without requiring manual input for each scan.
  • Enhanced Scan Quality: Leveraging VisionKit's advanced imaging capabilities ensures higher quality scans with better edge detection and clarity.

New Smart Upload Action Recommendation

Building on our previously introduced Action Recommendation feature, we are adding a new scenario to further enhance the user experience within the Egnyte mobile app. This feature continues to provide personalized suggestions based on users' current actions, helping them discover additional functionalities and streamline their workflow.

Scenario: When a user navigates to a Project Folder that does not have geolocation set.

Action Recommendation: The app will now suggest setting the location for the folder to take advantage of the Smart Upload feature.

Issues Addressed

The following issues previously fixed in the regular version of the iOS app have been addressed in the Intune version with the current release.

File Copy Issue for Power Users

Power Users were unable to copy files between folders due to the destination folder appearing grayed out.

Access to All Private Folders for Administrators

Admin Users were unable to access All Private Folders in the mobile app.

Improved User Messaging for Restricted File Sharing

Users whose file-sharing options were blocked by the administrator under Secure and Govern settings, encountered a 400 error message. Now, users receive a clear message indicating that sharing isn’t allowed due to administrator settings.

Improved Photo Upload Reliability

Users intermittently encountered a 401 error when uploading photos to the Egnyte Mobile app. The error stemmed from authentication issues, causing uploads to fail. The app has been enhanced to handle the 401 responses better, preventing this error from recurring. Users can now upload photos smoothly and without interruption.

Access Issue for Deeply Nested Folders

Users encountered an Unable to load file error when accessing documents in folders nested 10 levels deep or more. This problem was due to file path length limitations in iOS. Storage method has been optimized to allow access to files in more deeply nested subfolders, ensuring smooth document access without errors.

Incorrect Timestamps on Uploaded Photos

The app previously displayed the Last Modified date under the Created label in the photo file details, causing confusion. To address this, the label has been updated to Modified for accuracy. Capturing and displaying the original date when the photo was first taken has been logged as a separate feature request.

Known Issues & Limitations

There are a few distinctions in functionality between the Egnyte for Intune app and its regular counterpart.

Disabled Features:

Conditional Features:

  • Image Markups: Disabled by default but can be enabled if the ‘Send organizational data to other apps’ setting is configured as ‘All apps’ in the Intune app protection policy.
