External Release Notes: iOS App for Intune v8.30.1 (June 29, 2024)
New Features And Enhancements
The Egnyte for Intune App has been brought up to parity with the latest version of the Egnyte app for iOS and users will now have access to the following features:
File and Folder Shortcuts Creation
This update introduces the capability to generate Egnyte native shortcuts directly within the mobile app. Once a shortcut is established, users can conveniently navigate to the intended file using the Mobile App, Desktop App, or the WebUI.
To create a shortcut, click on the three-dot menu next to the file or folder name and select the Create Shortcut button.
Drafts Folder Support
Following the release of Creating a draft document in Web UI, we have implemented a specific warning for actions that may delete the Drafts folder from the Private directory.
Whenever a user tries to move, rename or delete a folder named Drafts in their Private directory, a warning will be displayed as shown below.
If the user continues with the operation, ‘Publish’ feature will be disabled for the documents inside the Drafts folder.
Personalized Action Recommendations
This new feature enhances user experience by providing personalized recommendations and actionable tips within the app. This feature suggests potential next steps based on the user's current actions, helping them discover additional functionalities and streamline their workflow.
For example, if a user opens a PDF file to annotate it, they may receive a suggestion to explore the PDF Page Editor for further editing options.
End of Support for iOS 15
As part of our ongoing efforts to provide the best possible experience for our users, we will no longer support iOS 15 in the Egnyte iOS for Intune app. This means that users whose devices use iOS 15 will no longer receive app updates, new features, or bug fixes. To continue receiving updates and support, we recommend updating to the latest version of iOS available for your device.
Issues Addressed
Improved User Messaging for Restricted File Sharing
The release also addresses an issue where users, whose file-sharing options are blocked by the administrator under Secure and Govern settings, received a 400 error message. After the fix, users will receive a clear message informing them that sharing isn’t allowed because it was blocked by the administrator.
Known Issues and Limitations
There are a few distinctions in functionality between the Egnyte For Intune IOS App and its regular counterpart. Features like Co-Editing of Microsoft Office documents, the File Provider extension, which integrates with the iOS Files app, or Image Markups are disabled in the Egnyte for Intune app.
