Egnyte iOS App for Intune V 9.4 - Voice Shortcuts

External Release Notes: Egnyte iOS Mobile App for Intune v 9.4 (March 3, 2026)

New Features and Enhancements

The Egnyte for Intune app has been updated to match the latest version of the Egnyte iOS app (9.4), giving users access to the following features:

Siri and System Shortcuts Integration

Voice-enabled actions are now supported in the Egnyte iOS mobile app for Intune, enabling hands-free access to commonly used workflows through Siri.

Users can initiate selected Egnyte actions using voice commands, including opening the AI-powered Ask-me-anything chat, accessing recent files, starting a document scan, opening Search, uploading files or photos, taking a photo, and uploading geotagged photos from a specific location.

To perform an action using voice, the command must include the word “Egnyte” (for example, “Hey Siri, Open Egnyte search”). The full list of supported voice commands is available here.

The same frequently used actions are also available in the iOS Shortcuts app. When a user taps an action button in the Shortcuts app, they are redirected to the Egnyte app and taken directly to the relevant screen, where the selected action is automatically initiated.

Siri and Shortcuts Availability in the Intune Version of the Egnyte App

Please note that the availability of Siri voice commands and Shortcuts within the Egnyte for Intune App is controlled by the Microsoft Intune administrator.
-If the Intune admin has enabled Siri and Shortcuts in the App Protection Policy (MAM) or Device Restriction settings, these features will be fully accessible to the end user.
-If these features are restricted by policy, voice-enabled actions will not be available within the app.

AI Chats Enhancements

Improved Text Formatting in AI Chat Responses

AI chat responses in the Egnyte Mobile app now correctly render Markdown-formatting. Text such as headings, bold and italic styling, bullet points, numbered lists, and links are displayed as intended within the chat interface.

Streaming AI Responses in Chat

AI chat responses in the Egnyte mobile app are now delivered using streaming technology, allowing answers to appear progressively as they are generated.

Instead of waiting for the full response to complete, users can see the response build in real time, improving perceived response speed and providing a more responsive chat experience. The final content of the response remains unchanged.

Issues Addressed

Updated Office Editor Launch and Redirect Behavior

Tapping the editor icon to open Microsoft Office documents for editing in the Egnyte mobile app previously sometimes prompted unnecessary installation flows or redirected users to the Microsoft Copilot 365 app, which can no longer be used for document editing.

Office files now open directly in the appropriate standalone editors - such as Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, or Microsoft PowerPoint - if they are installed. If the required editor app is not available, users are guided to the correct store listing to install it.

Known Issues and Limitations

There are a few distinctions in functionality between the Egnyte for Intune app and its regular counterpart:

Disabled Features:

Conditional Features:

  • Image Markups - Disabled by default but can be enabled if the ‘Send organizational data to other apps’ setting is configured as ‘All apps’ in the Intune app protection policy.
