New Features and Enhancements
AI Assistant Upgraded to Agent Mode
AI connectors in Egnyte’s AI Assistant unlock the power of Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers. These connectors enable the AI Assistant to function as a reasoning agent and users can also leverage the feature to easily utilize admin-approved connectors in Egnyte, such as Gmail, Atlassian, Procore, and more.
The feature was previously available as the Agent Mode within Egnyte's AI Assistant. Now, the Admins and Users can directly use AI connectors while interacting with Egnyte's AI Assistant without having to explicitly enable the agent mode.
Thinking in Agents
Egnyte has introduced Thinking in Agents. This provides a more structured and clearer visual state while the agent processes a request.
With this update, users get a more intuitive view of how the agent is handling a query, making the overall interaction feel more transparent and easier to follow.
Intelligent AI Suggestions in the Search Bar
Egnyte search bar on the home page and the files listing now detects when a query is better suited for the AI Assistant and offers a one-click handoff, so users don’t have to decide which tool to use.
Informational queries show an Ask AI Assistant prompt in the search dropdown, while navigational queries continue with standard keyword search. This makes it quicker and easier for users to get the results they need.
Multi-File Advanced Spreadsheet Analysis and Support for GSheets
Egnyte now allows users to analyze multiple spreadsheets simultaneously in the AI Assistant. Users can tag multiple files using @filename in their prompts, and the Assistant processes them in parallel to extract relevant data from each file in a single interaction.
Additionally, Google Sheets is now supported as a file format for advanced spreadsheet analysis, expanding the range of files users can work with.
OAuth Client ID Authentication Type Supported for AI Connectors
Egnyte now supports OAuth Client ID as an authentication type for AI Connectors. This can be used when an MCP server requires application-level authentication using a client ID and secret, instead of per-user authorization. Admins provide these credentials during setup, enabling a shared, organization-level connection for all users.
This approach is well suited for internal or organization-scoped services where access is managed centrally. With this authentication type, admins can now connect MCP servers (AI Connectors) which support OAuth Client ID based authentication to the Egnyte AI Assistant, such as Slack and Salesforce. Once added, these can be utilized by the end users.
