External Release Notes: Copilot (March 25, 2026)
New Features and Enhancements
Copilot Renamed to Egnyte’s AI Assistant
Egnyte Copilot is now renamed to Egnyte’s AI Assistant, and the Copilot add-on is now called the AI add-on. This is a name change only, with no changes to existing functionality or features. The updated naming brings greater clarity and consistency across Egnyte’s AI offerings, making it easier for users to identify, access, and use AI-powered capabilities.
Users can now navigate to all AI offerings from the AI option in the left menu, previously labeled as Copilot Hub.
Share Conversations from AI Tools
Users can now share AI conversations with colleagues across Egnyte’s AI Assistant, Agents, and Knowledge Bases, making it easier to collaborate and reuse insights. File permissions are always respected, ensuring recipients can view the conversation while only accessing files they already have permission to.
This reduces the need to recreate or re-explain context, enabling faster collaboration, better knowledge sharing, and more consistent outcomes across teams.
For Agents, the icon in the generated response has been updated to a Share dropdown. This dropdown now includes the new Share option, along with the existing Save to Egnyte and Download options.
Agent Mode - AI Connectors and Agentic Search in Egnyte’s AI Assistant
Egnyte is announcing the deployment of Agent Mode within the Egnyte AI Assistant. This update transforms the AI Assistant into a proactive agent capable of connecting to external data sources, automating cross-platform tasks, and performing deep agentic searches on Egnyte.
Agent Mode unlocks the power of Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers, enabling the AI Assistant to function as a reasoning agent that can interact with external tools and retrieve real-time data to answer complex queries.
Users can leverage Agent Mode to connect to external connectors such as Atlassian, Gmail, Procore, and others, helping bridge the gap between Egnyte and widely used productivity tools.
Additionally, Agent Mode enhances search on Egnyte through agentic search, which understands the context of a request. The AI Assistant can reason through custom metadata (for example, finding all contracts under $100,000 signed in the last 5 years). If a document isn’t immediately found, the agent can perform multiple search queries, analyze relevant documents, and synthesize a comprehensive response.
The feature will be gradually rolled out and will be available to all the customers with the AI add-on by March 31, 2026.
