What are Projects?

Projects can be created in Egnyte to assign a specific folder and its contents to a particular project within the organization. A Project can exist for any purpose regardless of industry, but it is most commonly used in architecture, engineering, and construction.

By marking a folder as a Project in Egnyte, Project specific metadata such as a Project name, Project ID, Project description, Project status (active, closed, etc.) and more are automatically  assigned to the folder for richer life-cycle tracking capabilities. Each of these project metadata fields  are  inherited by all files & folders within the Project. Project administrators also gain enhanced visibility and control over users’ permissions throughout the project via Team Management.

Additional features including Smart Upload, Project Lifecycle Management, Project Dashboard, and Automated Project Detection only become accessible once a folder is marked as a Project.

Projects will be identified by a unique icon in the folder tree within a domain, as shown in the screenshot below.

Projects are available in the Platform Enterprise Lite, Platform Enterprise, Life Science, and GxP plans as well having the Project Hub enabled. Contact an Egnyte Sales rep or the Egnyte Sales team to get this add-on.
