Secure & Govern V 25.5 - Egnyte to Egnyte Connector Renamed as Content Bridge

External Release Notes: Secure & Govern v 25.5 (January 9, 2026)

New Features and Enhancements

Egnyte to Egnyte Connector Renamed as Content Bridge

The Egnyte to Egnyte Connector is now called Content Bridge across Secure & Govern and Collaborate. This is a naming update only and does not change how the feature works. All existing functionality and behavior remain the same, with a clearer name that better reflects how content is synced across Egnyte domains.

File Server Connector General Availability

The new Egnyte File Server Connector will replace the existing Site Connector for monitoring Windows File Server instances with Secure & Govern. The new connector will provide the following benefits:

  • An agent-based plug & play solution that is easy to deploy
  • No Intermediate VM needs to be deployed or maintained
  • Elimination of SMB protocol issues that could impact snapshots
  • Significant performance improvement over current snapshot processing capabilities
  • VSS shadow copy space has been insufficient at times, which has resulted in snapshot failure. That issue is also rectified by the new solution.

Egnyte will begin the End of Life process for Site Connector with the release of the File Server Connector. Customers with existing Site Connector installations will be contacted directly with further information.

Inactive Container Policies - Granular Subfolder Control

When creating a Content Lifecycle policy to move files into the Inactive area, users now have more control over which folders or subfolders will be affected:

Options are:

  • All - All folders in the folder tree must match the policy criteria and will be moved together
  • Folder only - Only files in the individual folder will be matched against the criteria and only that folder will be moved
  • Subfolder only - Only subfolders under the selected parent will be matched against the criteria and will be moved
  • Include future subfolders - When selected, new subfolders created under the parent when evaluating for policy. If not selected, new subfolders will be ignored.

Additional Information And Resources

The current release contains a few improvements to the existing functionality.

  • Minor performance and stability improvements
  • Minor logging and UI improvements
  • Minor bug fixes

The changes will be available to all users by January 9, 2026.
