Customers can use the Egnyte File Server Connector (FSC) within the Secure & Govern platform to efficiently scan and monitor their on-premise servers by deploying lightweight, easy-to-install agents.
An Egnyte Secure & Govern on-premise deployment consists of an agent (Windows service) that runs on each monitored file server. Egnyte designed the on-premise components to be a lightweight conduit between the on-premise repositories and the Egnyte Secure & Govern cloud-based service. The system is designed to require only outbound network connections.
Egnyte FSC offers several benefits over the earlier process of deploying a site connector VM that ran on a VMware or Hyper-V hypervisor and an agent (Windows service) that ran on each monitored file server.
- Egnyte FSC agents offer a lightweight and easy-to-install solution for scanning and monitoring the Windows File Servers (WFS).
- Users can map the network storage drives and can scan them.
- A step-by-step process is available to configure the Active Directory. This will provide connection with the metadata and inherent permissions.
