New Features and Enhancements
Workflow Triggers Based on Specific File Operations
Egnyte is enhancing the control over workflow triggers by introducing the ability to specify which file operations trigger a workflow set to the condition A document is added to a folder.
This update allows the users to differentiate triggers based on specific file actions, such as separating an initial file upload from a subsequent file update. Workflow template creators can now configure the trigger to consider or exclude the following file events:
- New file uploads
- Subsequent updates to existing files
- Files copied
- File moved
- Files uploaded via upload link
- Files uploaded via upload request
- Files restored from trash
By default, all of these options will be enabled, but users can optionally uncheck one or more events to restrict triggering. Users are required to select at least one event when setting up a trigger, giving workflow creators much greater control over their automation based on precise business processes.
Restore Filtered Items from Trash
Admins can now restore all filtered items from Trash in a single action using the Restore filtered items option. This bulk-restore capability saves time, reduces manual effort, and makes it easier for users to quickly recover multiple files or folders without restoring them one by one.
- This option will be available only when additional filters are applied by the user.
- This option will be available only for admins.
Easy Identification for Items Being Restored from Trash
Restoring larger files and folders from Trash may take some time to appear in their original location. Users can now see the processing status for these items while they are being restored in the trash.
New Email Templates for Egnyte Sign
New e-mail templates have been designed and implemented for all Egnyte Sign notifications. These updated templates feature a modern, cleaner design that improves readability and makes key actions more prominent for users.
The e-mails also now include a Report this email link, allowing users to quickly notify the Egnyte Security team using a pre-populated template. This helps strengthen spam and phishing prevention, ensures faster reporting of suspicious activity.
Egnyte Sign is available as part of the PDF File Handler Add-On. Contact the account manager or Egnyte Sales team to get access to this feature.
Folder-Level Controls for Admins Only (Limited Availability)
The option to delete, move, or rename a particular folder can now be restricted to Admins only. This provides organizations with strict compliance and security requirements and greater control over the structural changes to their file system. By limiting these actions to Admins, organizations can prevent accidental changes, maintain structural integrity, and ensure that folder structures remain consistent with internal policies.
The feature is currently available to a limited number of customers that are not using any of the hybrid devices (Storage Sync and/or Smart Cache). To request this feature, contact the Products team.
Escalations and Key Issues Addressed
Issue in Desktop Co-Editing Using Share Links
There was an issue where users without folder permissions were unable to open files through desktop co-editing share links, even though the files previewed correctly in the browser. A fix has been implemented wherein only users with at least editor permission can use the desktop co-edit if the desktop is set as a default option for co-editing.
Issue in Opening Files in WebEdit
An issue has been resolved wherein the customers were getting an error while trying to open files in WebEdit. The issue was caused after a recent update and has now been resolved.
