New Features and Enhancements

Upgraded Next Generation Google Integration 

We are excited to announce the General Availability (GA) of the Next Generation Egnyte for Google Workspace Integration, designed to deliver faster performance, a cleaner experience, and smarter collaboration across Egnyte and Google Workspace.

This upgraded integration builds on our strong foundation while introducing new capabilities, enhanced reliability, and a modernized user interface for both Admins and end users.

In addition to the existing capabilities, this upgrade offers new benefits for the end-users, such as:

• Quick access to shared Google files from Web UI
• Automatic creation of a copy of newly created files in Google Drive
• Ability to co-edit files directly in Google’s editor
• Enjoy seamless access to Egnyte add-ons within Google Workspace, enabling users to share files directly from the editor for a faster and more integrated collaboration experience on Egnyte web and mobile apps.
• Enhanced user experience leveraging Google’s Smart Canvas capabilities.

Users can also leverage Smart Canvas for streamlined task assignments and collaboration, and Duet AI to assist with project initiation and content refinement across Google applications.

Admin Setup: One-Time Configuration

Before enabling the new integration for an organization, complete the following one-time setup:

1. Create a Google Service Account
   • Set up a dedicated Google service account (for example, egnyte.integration@company.com)
   • Use this account to authorize the Egnyte for Google Workspace integration for the domain
   • Ensure this service account is not linked to any Egnyte user to prevent conflicts
2. Transition to the New Integration
   • Follow the helpdesk article on Egnyte for Google Workspace integration for detailed, step-by-step instructions on authorizing the new setup and managing the transition smoothly
