Contract Analyst intelligently reviews contracts to uncover key provisions and potential risks, providing greater clarity and control.
The guide lists the step-by-step process for creating a Contract Analyst agent, accessing and using the Contract Analyst dashboard, and configuring the agent.

Create Contract Analyst Agent
- Navigate to Copilot Hub from the left menu.
- Click on Create Agent -> Contract Analyst -> Use this Template.
Alternatively, click Configure in the Contract Analyst tile.
- A pre-filled template will appear. Users can edit the details and select the appropriate folder(s) as listed below. Click on Save.

- The default Name is Contract Analyst is pre-filled but can be modified
- Select an Icon
- Provide a Description (optional)
- Choose the folder(s) to include in the Contract Analyst and click on Save
The user can select a maximum of 5 folders to include in the Contract Analyst.
After saving, the Contract Analyst agent will appear in the Copilot Hub -> Agents with a status of Preparing (displaying a progress percentage).
The Contract Analyst agent will become available for use once file processing is complete.

Contract Analyst Dashboard
- Navigate to Copilot Hub from the left side menu.
- Click on the Contract Analyst agent to view the dashboard.
The dashboard displays key metrics as Total contracts, Renewal clauses, Termination clauses, and Payment terms.
Users can click each metric to view detailed results. Graphical views include Contracts by Type and Contracts Expiring in the next 10 months.
Dashboard Filters
Filter the dashboard to view details based on the selected folder(s) by:
- Clicking the Folder(s) dropdown (Default is All).
- Select the desired folder(s) to filter the dashboard results.
Key Metrics
The dashboard presents key metrics based on the selected folder(s) and their data:
- Total contracts: Total number of contracts identified
- Renewal clauses: Number of contracts containing renewal clauses
- Termination clauses: Number of contracts containing termination clauses
- Payment terms: Number of contracts with defined payment terms
Each metric is clickable, allowing users to drill down into the corresponding contract list.
Contracts by Type
The dashboard categorizes contracts by type, shown in a pie chart divided into sub-categories such as NDA, Employment, Sales, Licensing, and other contract types.
Hover over a pie slice and click View Contracts to see all the contracts within that category.
Expiration Date Breakdown
Contracts are also categorized by expiration date. The expiration date widget includes a bar graph that displays the number of contracts expiring each month across a rolling 12-month period (2 months prior and 10 months ahead).

View All Contracts
Click on the Contracts tab on the Contract Analyst dashboard to view a full list of the identified contracts.
This list includes details as Item Name, Status, Date modified, Updated by, Description, Tags, and Contract Type.
Users can:
- Edit the view to show or hide columns.
- Filter contracts by Folder(s), Contract Type, and Smart Tags
- Export the contract list to Excel
Filters: Folder(s), Contract Type, and Smart Tags
- Click the desired filter dropdown
- Select Folder(s), Contract Type(s), or Smart Tag(s)
- The list updates automatically to show matching results
Click Reset All to restore the default view.
Keyword Search
- Enter search keyword(s) in the search bar or select from the available search history.
- Click on Show Search Results. Matching contracts will be displayed
Export
Click the export icon to download the filtered list of contracts along with all the displayed columns as an Excel file.
Single Contract View
Click any contract in the Contracts – List View to open its details.
The Contract Preview displays key data and smart tags extracted from the document.
- Smart Tags: Extracted fields appear as smart tags, which can be used to filter content. Click a citation to view the source information.
- Ask (Q&A): Ask contextual questions about the contract. Use built-in prompts (for example, Generate Summary) or create custom questions. Prompts can be shuffled using the shuffle icon, and suggested questions are available for quick access.
Smart Tags
The number of smart tags extracted is displayed in the left pane with an option to filter the document as per the smart tag(s).
- Click Filter(s).
- Select desired smart tags and navigate through the document using the applied filters.

Files to Review
The Files to Review tab displays the list of documents that were not identified as contracts. The users can choose to reprocess the files with Not a Contract state, if required.
Files can have the following states:
- Unsupported: Processed but in an unsupported format
- Not a Contract: Identified as non-contract documents
- Processing: The file will be under process to review and identify it as a contract or non-contract
Users can filter these by Date Added and/or State. They can also use the search function to locate specific documents.
To reprocess a document, click on Reprocess.
The document state will change to Processing, and it will be moved to the Contracts tab if it is identified as a Contract.

Configure Contract Analyst
Navigate to Settings -> AI Powered Features -> Agents.
Edit Contract Analyst Agent
- Hover over the specific row to edit the Contract Analyst agent.
- Click on the edit icon.
- Edit the Name, Icon, and/or Description. The user can choose to view or add additional folders. Click on Save.

User Permissions and Access
- Activation of the contract analyst is a functionality available to domain administrators
- Accessibility of the Contract Analyst is extended to all users with access to the corresponding folder
- Even if users do not hold universal access for all files or subfolders within the folder, the Contract Analyst will still operate, but only draw from and expose information that respective users are privy to.
Ensuring Information Safety
The Contract Analyst strictly maintains user access permissions; it will not show Contracts or information that users do not have access to.

Miscellaneous
Integration Process for New Files
- When a new file is added to a folder, it undergoes an integration process before becoming accessible in the Contract Analyst.
- It typically takes around 15 to 30 minutes for the new file to be fully integrated into the Contract Analyst and ready for use in responses.
Instantaneous Exclusion
- Deleting or moving files out of the folder will immediately remove them from the reach of the Contract Analyst.
File Support
- Only PDF file formats are supported at this time.
