The Egnyte Desktop App integrates with Windows File Explorer to provide quick access to file and folder operations via the context menu. This article explains the available options for both Windows 11 and Windows 10, and how users can interact with Egnyte content directly from their desktop.
Windows 11
In Windows 11, Egnyte provides two ways to access context menu actions:
1. Modern Context Menu (Right-click > Egnyte)
When right-clicking a file or folder, an Egnyte option appears. Selecting it opens the Egnyte Actions Menu—a custom overlay containing actions specific to the selected item.
- The available options differ between files and folders.
- This feature currently supports only single-item selection. If multiple files or folders are selected, the Egnyte option will not appear.
- For a complete list of available actions in the Egnyte Actions Menu, see the appropriate section below.
Support for multiple selections is planned for a future update.
2. Classic Context Menu (Right-click Show More Options)
In addition to the modern menu, Windows 11 users can access the classic context menu by choosing Show More Options. This reveals the traditional Windows 10-style context menu, where Egnyte actions are listed.
Windows 10
In Windows 10, the classic context menu is shown by default when right-clicking files or folders. Egnyte options are integrated directly into this menu.
Available actions depend on whether the user is interacting with a folder or a file.
Users may also see a separate Egnyte entry in this classic menu, which opens the same Egnyte Actions Menu. This is a transitional element and may be consolidated in future updates.
