This article describes how to share files and folders via links in the Egnyte Android Mobile App.
Admin and Power Users can create links to files or folders to quickly share with someone inside or outside of their organization.
To share a link to a single file or folder via the Egnyte Android App, click on the three dot menu next to the file or folder that needs to be shared and select Share.
To share a link to multiple files or folders, click on the three dot menu in the upper right corner of the screen, choose Select, tap the selection button next to the files or folders that need to be shared and click the Share option.
Next, set up the link sharing options:
-
Who can access the link (Anyone, Anyone with password, Existing user(s), People you choose)
-
Link settings (Allow downloads, Notify when the link is accessed, Add folder or file name to link)
-
Link expiration (Never, On a date, After number of clicks)
-
Choose how to share the link (Email link, Get link)
- If the Email link option is selected, the system will auto-suggest email addresses based on previous usage, with a prioritization algorithm to help pick the most relevant users. Additionally, clear color indicators differentiate internal (light purple) from external (light orange) recipients.
- If the Get link option is selected, the link is copied to the clipboard and can be pasted into a text message or other communication channels.

Known Issues And Limitations
Egnyte is continuously refining the link-sharing experience to make it even more seamless. As part of this evolution, there are a few scenarios that are not yet fully supported in the Android mobile app:
Watermarked Folder Previews
When sharing a folder with watermarking enabled, previews for files inside the folder may not always appear through the shared link.
Click-Limited Links On Mobile
When preview-only links with click-based expiration are opened in the Android app, mobile interaction tracking may not update consistently.
Co-Editing Via Shared Links On Mobile
To ensure the best editing experience, co-editing from a shared link isn’t available on mobile just yet. Instead, users can open the file from the listing view and select Edit.
