Reconnect to your Organization Prompt After Updating the Egnyte for Intune iOS App to v 9.9

Users who update the Egnyte for Intune iOS app from version 9.8 to version 9.9 or later may see a prompt titled "Reconnect to your Organization". This article explains why the prompt appears, what it means, and what users should do.

Why the Prompt Appears

Version 9.9 of the Egnyte for Intune iOS app includes a new version of the Microsoft Intune SDK (version 21.0.0 or later). This updated SDK is not able to silently refresh the authentication token that was issued under the previous SDK version. As a result, users who were already signed in when they updated the app are required to sign in again to re-establish their access.

The prompt displays the following message:

You need to refresh this app's management policies to continue accessing data for [user email]. Ensure your device is connected to the internet.

This is expected behavior and is not an indication of an error in the app or a problem with the user's account.

What Users Should Do

On the Reconnect to your Organization dialog, the Remove Account option removes the existing session and returns the app to the sign-in screen. From there, the standard sign-in flow for version 9.9 applies:

  • Users on a standard Microsoft commercial tenant should select Continue.
  • Users on a Microsoft GCC High government tenant should select GCC High user?.

After selecting the appropriate option, users sign in with their work email and password and complete Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) if prompted. The app then re-enrolls with Microsoft Intune and applies the organization's policies. If the organization requires an app PIN, users are prompted to set one up at this stage.

A step-by-step description of the full sign-in flow is available in Signing into the Egnyte for Intune iOS App.

Important: Respond to the Prompt Before the Grace Period Expires

Organizations using Microsoft Intune can configure an Offline Grace Period, the maximum time an app can continue operating without a successful re-authentication. If the Reconnect to your Organization prompt is not addressed before that period expires, Microsoft Intune may perform a selective wipe of the Egnyte data stored locally within the app on the device. No data is lost on the Egnyte server, all files remain safe. Only locally cached content within the app is affected. Users should respond to the prompt as soon as possible after updating.

This is a One Time Action

Once users have signed in following the update, re-authentication is not required again as part of normal app use. This prompt does not appear for users who install the app fresh from version 9.9 or later, it applies only to users who had an active session at the time of the update from version 9.8 to 9.9.
