External Release Notes: AI Assistant (August 5, 2026)
New Features and Enhancements
Support for Gemini Enterprise in MCP Server
Egnyte MCP Server now includes Gemini Enterprise as a supported application and enables it by default in the list of allowed apps. This allows organizations to connect Gemini Enterprise to Egnyte without additional configuration, making it easier to securely access and use Egnyte content within Gemini Enterprise while simplifying deployment for administrators.
Create Knowledge Bases with Pre-configured Agents’ Template
Egnyte now streamlines the creation of Knowledge Bases by directing users to the Agents creation flow, where Knowledge Base is available as a preconfigured template. This guided experience enables users to quickly create Knowledge Bases as agents benefiting from the enhanced flexibility, extensibility, and AI-powered interactions available with Egnyte Agents.
- Knowledge Bases created after August 05, 2026 will be available under Agents.
- Egnyte will deprecate the Knowledge Bases feature and they will be converted to agents by September 2026. Users are encouraged to explore AI Assistant and Agents to continue taking advantage of Egnyte's AI capabilities.
Image Search and Readability for Agents (Limited Availability)
The previously introduced automatic image caption generation capability will be generally available and will be gradually rolled out to the customers in the next few weeks. Newly uploaded images are automatically enriched with descriptive captions, making image content searchable alongside documents and improving the accuracy of AI-powered search and responses without requiring manual tagging.
