External Release Notes: AI Assistant (July 8, 2026)
New Features and Enhancements
Model List Upgrade
Egnyte now supports GPT-5.4 (default) and Gemini-3.5 Flash models, providing users with greater flexibility to choose the AI model that best suits their requirements.
Easier MCP Server and AI Connectors’ Management for Admins
Egnyte MCP server and AI connector settings are now present under the AI Powered Features section of Admin settings. These were previously under Configuration -> AI and have been moved to make it easier to find and manage the settings.
AI Connectors’ Discovery Made Easy for Admins and Users
AI connectors list now includes pagination, so it gets easier for the admins to navigate and manage hundreds of connectors added. For the end users, in the All connectors list, connectors published by the admins now appear at the top (A–Z), followed by unpublished connectors (A–Z). This enables the users to quickly find and connect to the connectors approved by their organization.
Images Search and Readability for Agents (Limited Availability)
Egnyte now automatically generates descriptive captions for newly uploaded images, capturing objects, scenes, and visible text as searchable metadata. This makes image content searchable alongside documents, enables AI agents to understand and reason over images, and improves the accuracy of image search and AI-powered responses without requiring manual tagging.
The following files types of up to 64 MB are currently supported:
- PNG
- JPG / JPEG
- TIF / TIFF
- BMP
- JPX
- GIF
- WEBP
The feature is currently in limited availability for all customers with the AI add-on. To request this feature, contact our Products team.
