Egnyte integrates with leading AI language models to power intelligent features across the platform, giving users flexibility in selecting a model that aligns with their requirements and preferences. This article covers the supported models, the steps to select a preferred model, and how admins can enable or disable the model selector for end-users.
Supported Models
- GPT-5.6 Terra (Default): OpenAI's flagship model built for reasoning-intensive and coding-heavy workloads, suited for complex professional tasks
- Gemini 3.5 Flash: Google's speed-optimized model designed for high-volume everyday tasks
- Gemini 3.7 Flash: Google's fast, efficient model designed for high-volume tasks and responsive everyday workflows.

Model Selector
Users can also choose from multiple AI models directly within the chat input box in Egnyte.

- Click on the desired model to select.
- The new model will be displayed as per the user’s selection.
Model Settings
Enable or Disable Model Selector
Admins have the option to choose if the users should be able to select their preferred Large Language Model.
- Navigate to Settings -> Configuration -> AI.
- Use the Allow users to select their preferred Large Language Model toggle to enable or disable the model selector.
- Click on Save changes.
When the Model selector is disabled, GPT 5.6 will be used as the default model.
Manage AI Models Available for Use
Admins have the ability to select the specific AI models that will be available for use to the end users. They can enable or disable specific model(s) and also set the default model.
- Navigate to Settings -> Configuration -> AI.
Enable or disable the model by using the respective toggle.
Gemini-3.7 Flash is disabled by default. Admins can enable the model from the Allowed Models list to make it available for the end users.
- Admins can also set the preferred default model by clicking on the respective check icon. There is a label added to the model recommended by Egnyte and it would be set as the default model.
- Click on Set as default to confirm.
If the admins disable the default model, there would be an additional confirmation required. The next available model will then be automatically set as the default model.
It is required to keep at least one model enabled. Also, if there is only one model enabled then it will automatically be the default model.
- The end-users will see the default model and the available AI model(s) as per the settings configured by the Admins.
Some AI models have UI indicators that identify specific attributes. For instance, new models have an experimental icon displayed next to them. The example below is for representation purposes only and is intended to illustrate how these indicators appear in the UI.
