This article describes functionality that will be available in version 9.9 of the Egnyte for Intune iOS app. Version 9.9 is expected to be available in the Apple App Store on August 5, 2026, when the rollout will begin. This article has been published in advance to allow administrators and users to prepare for the upcoming changes.
The Egnyte for Intune iOS app version 9.9 introduces an updated sign-in experience for new users and users who are signing in for the first time on a device. This article describes each step of the sign-in process.
Users who are already signed in when they update to version 9.9 are not required to sign in again. The updated sign-in flow applies only when signing in for the first time after installing or reinstalling the app.
The Sign-In Steps
Choosing a Tenant on the Welcome Screen
When the app is opened for the first time after installation, a welcome screen is displayed with two options:
- Continue: for users whose organization uses a standard Microsoft commercial tenant.
- GCC High user?: for users whose organization uses a Microsoft Government Community Cloud High (GCC High) tenant.
Microsoft Authentication
After selecting an option, the app proceeds to Microsoft authentication. Depending on the device setup, this step uses one of two methods:
- Microsoft Authenticator app: if the Microsoft Authenticator app is installed on the device, it is used to handle the authentication. The user selects the appropriate account from within the Authenticator app.
- In-app browser: if the Microsoft Authenticator app is not installed, a browser window opens within the app for the user to sign in with their Microsoft credentials.
During this step, any Conditional Access policies assigned to the user by their organization's IT administrator are evaluated. If a Conditional Access policy blocks the user, for example, because the device is not enrolled or managed, a message from Microsoft is displayed and sign-in is not completed. Intune Enrollment
Once Microsoft authentication is complete, the app enrolls the device with Microsoft Intune using the authenticated user's identity. This step is handled automatically.
App Restart
After enrollment, a notification is displayed by the app indicating that a restart is required to apply the Intune policies. The user taps the button in this notification, which closes the app. The app does not reopen automatically — the user must tap the app icon on the home screen to reopen it.
Egnyte Login
After reopening the app, the standard Egnyte login screen is displayed. The user signs in with their Egnyte credentials to complete the process and access the app.
What if Something Goes Wrong During Sign-In?
If the Microsoft authentication step displays a message such as Install Microsoft Authenticator or Secure this device before you can access, these messages are generated by Microsoft and indicate that a Conditional Access policy is preventing access. Depending on the organization's Conditional Access or authentication policies, users may be required to use the Microsoft Authenticator app when signing in. If the organization enforces Microsoft Authenticator, ensure that it is installed and up to date on the device.
App Configuration Reference for Administrators
The Egnyte for Intune iOS app uses tenant-specific configurations for Microsoft authentication and Intune enrollment. These configurations are built into the app for version 9.9 and higher and do not require manual entry by administrators in most deployments. However, they may be relevant in the following situation:

Verifying app registration in Microsoft Entra ID: Administrators can confirm that the correct app is registered and consented in their tenant by locating it by its Client ID in the Microsoft Entra admin center under Applications > Enterprise applications.
