External Release Notes: Copilot (December 11, 2025)
New Features and Enhancements
Model Selector
Users can now compare outputs and switch between different AI models without taking data out of Egnyte. Model Selector allows users to choose from multiple AI models directly within the chat input box in Egnyte. They can select their preferred model and run their prompts—all in one place. The model selector is available for Agents, Copilot, Knowledge Bases, and Ask.
This feature makes Egnyte a centralized hub for interacting with multiple LLM providers, helping users make better-informed decisions and enabling more powerful, efficient AI-driven work.
- This feature is available for customers having Platform Plans with Copilot Add-on and included in the New Generation Platform plans. Contact the account manager or Egnyte Sales team for more information.
- This feature is not available in Deep Research Agent.
Natural Language File Search
Egnyte has updated Copilot to better understand natural language searches for file metadata. Copilot can now identify filters in the query for:
- File Type: (for example, find all word docs, show me the ppts)
- User Name: (for example, what did John modify)
- Modified Date: (for example, updates from last week, modified in the last month)
- Upload Date: (for example, files uploaded last week)
This allows the users to find content and get answers more easily.
For example, asking for PDF files uploaded for Gym Reimbursement in 2025 will now give a list of all the PDF files uploaded in 2025 for Gym Reimbursement.
Natural language queries for specific folder paths are not yet supported.
Inline Citations in Copilot and Knowledge Bases
Egnyte has enhanced how citations appear in Copilot and Knowledge Bases. Citations now appear inline, directly alongside the referenced text. Users can hover over a citation to view the source file, or click it to open the specific section in the Egnyte document or the web source. Each citation number also links to a detailed source list at the bottom of the response. The same number may appear multiple times indicating that multiple pieces of information were drawn from that single, consistent source document.
This improvement helps users quickly verify information, understand context, and access referenced content without leaving the response view.
