Windows 11 Context Menu Support

We have introduced access to the Egnyte Actions menu in the Windows 11 Modern Context Menu for both files and folders. Currently available actions are described in the article Egnyte Actions in Desktop App.

While we are working on bringing parity with the classic Windows 10 context menu, all previously available options under Show more options are still present.

Desktop Configurations (Limited Availability)

The Desktop Configurations feature is currently offered in limited availability. This feature allows administrators to create and deploy predefined drive mappings to end users through a centralized configuration panel in the Web UI.

At this time, the rollout remains limited due to the following technical constraints:

  • Windows restart required: After the first drive is added on Windows, the Desktop App must be restarted for the configuration to take effect, which complicates first-time user onboarding.
  • Strict drive matching: For a configuration to overwrite an existing manual drive, it must match the drive letter, label, and cloud start path exactly—making migration to central configuration management cumbersome.
  • No remote cleanup: There's currently no automated method to remove previously added manual drives on either Windows or Mac.

These limitations will be addressed in a future release before full general availability.

This feature is now released as General Availability. Click here for details.

Issues Addressed

Desktop App Interface Homepage Not Loading

Desktop homepage would not load for users on old Intel(R) Iris(R) Xe Graphics drivers. Desktop App will now detect outdated drivers and switch to software-only rendering in such cases.

Share Link Window Not Rendering Correctly

We fixed an issue with incorrect rendering for the Share Link Options window that sometimes occurred when resizing.

File Gets Recreated After Delete

Occasionally a file got recreated after a delete action.

Desktop App with Smart Cache - Empty Folder Listing

An issue was fixed where occasionally Desktop App connected to Smart Cache would return empty folder listings.
