External Release Notes: Desktop App for Windows v 3.25.0 (April 28, 2025)
New Features And Improvements
Desktop Configuration From WebUI
Desktop App now supports centralized configuration management via the Web UI. Admins can create and deploy drive mappings, offline folders, and connected folders to user groups without manual setup on each device.
These changes will be gradually enabled to customers in upcoming weeks.
Issues Addressed
Drive Mapping Failure In Egnyte Desktop App During Mass Deployment
Users attempting to add drives for multiple domains encountered failures due to mismatched SSO responses. The app now ensures that the domain used for authentication matches the requested domain. If the requested domain is different, the added drive will be blocked with an “Invalid browser SSO response” error to prevent incorrect access.
Unusual Access Issues Not Being Created Correctly
Previously, Unusual Access Events were sent only for the first listed drive, which prevented proper detection of unusual access. We’ve updated the logic to ensure events are correctly associated with their respective drives, improving accuracy in issue creation.
Files Sometimes Reverted To Older Versions In SolidWorks
Some files in SolidWorks would unexpectedly go back to an older version. This happened when switching between online and offline access, and the latest version wasn’t saved correctly.
Location Access Prompt on Windows
Egnyte Desktop App prompted users to allow location access on fresh Windows installs using Windows Insider builds. This behavior was triggered by recent changes in Windows, and the app has been updated to prevent this prompt from appearing. Please note that when Desktop App Debug Logging is enabled, this prompt may be shown as we expand our logging to capture network data.
