External Release Notes: Smart Cache v5.1.2 (May 30, 2025)

New Features And Enhancements

Allowlist Or Whitelist Public IP Addresses For Smart Cache Devices

Egnyte now allows users to allowlist or whitelist public IP addresses for Smart Cache device authentication to enhance security. This feature helps prevent unauthorized access by restricting authentication to trusted networks.

Issues Addressed

Removing Synced Folders When Device Is Out Of Disk Space

Smart Cache devices were not able to remove synced folders when disk space was full, preventing users from clearing space and managing sync settings independently.

Unhealthy State During An Renamed File Upload

Under very rare conditions, the device would enter an unhealthy state when a file rename failed to upload due to an internal error.

Device Going To Internal Error State After Reauthorizing The Device

Under a few rare conditions, when an end user attempted to reauthorize the Smart Cache device, they would receive either an "Authentication code is invalid" or "Access token is invalid" error. Although subsequent reauthorization attempts would succeed, the device would then enter an "Internal error state."

Device Going To Unhealthy State With Push Error

In some edge cases, renaming operations result in push errors on the device, which subsequently causes the device to enter an unhealthy state with internal error.

Device Getting Connected To Desktop App When Configured In SMB Mode

In some rare race conditions, a device configured in SMB mode would connect to the Desktop App, which should not occur.

File Conflicts Originating from Smart Cache Under Rare Scenarios

In a rare scenario, where a file is saved multiple times within 1 second, the ensuing file versions do not get ordered properly when uploaded by Smart Cache. We have now fixed this issue to handle sub-second file-saves.

Memory Corruption Issue

A memory corruption issue caused by the double freeing of allocated memory is now fixed.

SMB Configured Device Upgrade Failure in Rare Scenarios

In rare cases, upgrading SMB-configured devices from older Smart Cache versions may fail, causing the devices to go offline.
