When Does a File Lock in Microsoft 365 for the Web Integration?

When a file is opened through Microsoft 365 for the Web integration, it is locked to other applications and shows a collaboration icon in the Web UI that represents an active coediting session. If other users open the same file through the Microsoft 365 for the web integration, they will still be able to open the file so they can collaborate and co-author it together.

What Happens if a User is Editing in Microsoft 365 for the Web and Then Another User Tries to Update in Desktop App?

When a user edits using Microsoft 365 for the Web, the file will be locked, and no other application (besides another Microsoft 365 for the web session) will be able to save as long as that file is open.
