Desktop App Installers

The following are download links for the Egnyte Desktop App for both Windows and Mac operating systems. Please select the appropriate version for the device to be installed on.

 

For Windows

Choose the version that best suits your needs. For most users, the newest 64-bit build is recommended. See the Installation, Mass Deployment, and Best Practices articles for Windows for more information.

This allows administrators time to review deployment environments, scripts, or policies that may reference the existing installation path.

Automatic upgrades will be enabled at a later time once customers have had sufficient time to prepare.

Desktop App for Windows (Recommended)

This is the current version of the Egnyte Desktop App for Windows and is recommended for new installations and upgrades.

Desktop App for Windows (32-Bit)

This version of the Desktop App remains available for environments that currently rely on the 32-bit client.

Download the Egnyte Desktop App for Windows v3.31.1

The 32-bit version will continue to function. However, new improvements and future updates will be delivered on the current 64-bit Desktop App release line.

System Requirements

  Egnyte ended support for Windows 7, 8, and 8.1 on January 14, 2020.

• Other dependencies:
  • .NET Framework version 4.6+ - pre-installed with Windows, not installed with Desktop App
  • Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2022 Redistributable (2019+) - automatically installed with Desktop App if missing.
• Recommended: 8GB of RAM
• Recommended: 350MB free disk space for initial install
• Recommended: Up to 5GB of free disk space for caching accessed files

 

Important Notes for Installation and Upgrades

System Reboot During Upgrade

When upgrading the Egnyte Desktop App for Windows, the installation process requires a system reboot to complete successfully.

Antivirus and Endpoint Security Configuration

After installing the Desktop App, ensure that appropriate antivirus or endpoint security exceptions are configured in your environment.

Mass Deployment

For Mac

For the best experience, we recommend Desktop App Core for all Mac users, regardless of processor type. For more information, see the Product Guide.

Desktop App Core for Mac (Recommended for All Mac Users)

Recommended. This is the latest generation of the Desktop App and is under active development. It is a universal build that runs natively on both Apple Silicon (M1/M2/M3) and Intel-based Macs, offering the best performance and stability.

Desktop App for Mac (For Intel)

This classic version is fully supported but not actively developed. This version runs well on Intel Mac devices but it is NOT recommended for Apple Silicon Mac devices, as it requires a special setup and does not provide an optimal experience.
