Uploading Files Smaller than 10 GB

To upload files to Egnyte, either "drag and drop" them into the browser or select and upload them using the “Browse for Files” button.

Drag and Drop

You can drag and drop as many files as you want as long as each one is less than 10 GB, but each browser is slightly different.

  • Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox allow you to drag and drop files and folders
  • Safari allows you to drag and drop files starting with version 6
  • Internet Explorer allows you to drag and drop files starting with version 10
  • Microsoft Edge allows you to drag and drop files

Browse for files

“Browse for Files” is another easy way to upload files smaller than 25 GB and will work on all browsers.  Just click on the Upload button and then choose “Browse for Files”; you’ll be able to select one or more files for upload from your desktop.

Dragging and Dropping

If you are running Chrome of Firefox, you can drag and drop folders directly into the Web UI.

Desktop Apps

Another efficient way to upload folders to the cloud is to use either Desktop Sync or Egnyte Drive.

Using FTP

FTP is another option to upload folders or files larger than 10 GB.  FTP access is only available to specific plans.  You can find detailed instructions for how to use FTP upload here.
