Context
Previously, only domains with Migration App enabled would be able to view and select Migration in the main dropdown menu. Selecting it would take the user to the Migration App Dashboard.
As of the latest release, Migration now appears in the dropdown for all domains. When the user clicks on it, they now are presented with a Migration Landing Page.
What is the Migration Landing Page?
The Migration Landing Page is designed to help users understand the considerations that go into selecting a migration tool and simplify access to the right tool for their particular migration project. As we make more self-service migration capabilities available to customers, they will be able to access them here.
What specifically is displayed to the user on this page depends on a few different factors and will change over time, depending on our business rules. The current business rules are described below.
User is an MSP Admin or Admin of an MSP-Managed Domain
If a user is an MSP Admin or Admin of an MSP-Managed Domain and their domain does not yet have access to Migration App, they will see a link to Request Enablement for My Domain.
After clicking the link above, they will be presented with a form.
If this Admin submits the request for the top 4 sources and a total migration amount of 5TB or less, they will be automatically granted access to the Migration Dashboard. This will also trigger an Onboarding Email to the user providing basic getting started documentation. This information is also provided in the customer-facing helpdesk article Getting Started with Migration App.
If this Admin’s request is denied for any reason, they will be referred to PS for a consultation.
This user will also be able to click on a few other links:
- Request to join the Migration Customer Advisory Board (CAB).
- Request access to the BETA program for Cloud and Egnyte-to-Egnyte migrations.
- Submit a Professional Services Inquiry.
- Submit a Feature Request.
User Is Not an MSP Admin
If the user is not an MSP Admin or Admin of an MSP-Managed domain and their domain does not yet have access to Migration App, they will only be able to click on the following links:
- Submit a Professional Services Inquiry.
- Submit a Feature Request.
User Already Has Access to Migration App
If a user’s domain has already been provided access to Migration App, they will see a blue button in two places on the Landing Page. Both buttons will take them directly to the Migration Dashboard.
This is one extra step for existing customers who were accustomed to going straight to the Migration Dashboard from the drop-down menu, but it is an important evolution in how we tell a comprehensive migration story to customers.
This user also has access to several other links:
- Request to join the Migration Customer Advisory Board (CAB).
- Request access to the BETA program for Cloud and Egnyte-to-Egnyte migrations.
- Submit a Professional Services Inquiry.
- Submit a Feature Request.
