Egnyte offers its users the ability to connect to external AI connectors in order to bridge the gap between Egnyte and widely used productivity tools.
This guide walks Egnyte admins through connecting Revizto as an AI Connector using the Model Context Protocol (MCP). Once configured, users can query Revizto projects, issues, clashes, sheets and project members directly from Egnyte's AI Assistant based on what the admin allowed for creating and updating the issues.
Prerequisites
- A Revizto account with access to Manage account info and the Developer portal (Revizto Account admin)
- The Revizto MCP Server app enabled for the organization’s account
- An Egnyte admin account
- The Revizto region that hosts the organization's Revizto account. The region is shown in the Revizto Workspace header, for example Region: North America (USA).
Choose the Revizto Connector for the Region
Revizto hosts its data in separate regions, so the Egnyte connector catalog lists one Revizto connector per region. If Revizto is used in multiple regions, the admin will need to add each region they access Revizto in. Configure the connector that matches the region of the Revizto account:
- Revizto North America
- Revizto Canada
- Revizto Europe
- Revizto United Kingdom
- Revizto UAE
- Revizto South America
- Revizto Southeast Asia
- Revizto ANZ
- Revizto Japan
- Revizto KSA
- Revizto Switzerland
A connector for a different region cannot reach the organization's Revizto data. Any sign-in or tool calls will fail as a result.
Create a Custom App in Revizto
The Revizto connector signs in with an OAuth client that the Revizto admin creates in the Revizto Developer portal.
- Sign in to Revizto. Click Tools -> Manage account info -> Developer portal. Before proceeding, confirm that the Revizto MCP Server app is Active. Click on Add custom app.
- Enter the following details and click on Add.
- App name: a recognizable name, for example Egnyte AI Assistant
- Redirect URIs: a temporary placeholder such as https://www.example.com. The field requires a valid URL; it is replaced with the Egnyte redirect URL in a later step.
-
API notification contacts: the email address of the Revizto admin who maintains the app
- The App credentials dialog shows the Client ID and Client secret. Copy both values and store them securely. Revizto shows the client secret only once and cannot display it again.
If the client secret is lost, open the app credentials in the Developer portal and click Regenerate secret, then enter the new secret in Egnyte.
Configure the Connector in Egnyte
- Navigate to Settings -> AI Powered Features -> AI Connectors
- Open the External MCPs tab. Find the Revizto connector for the region, click the three-dot menu and select Edit.
- Make sure the Authentication Type is set to OAuth Client ID. Paste the Client ID from Revizto into OAuth Client ID and the Client secret from Revizto into OAuth Client Secret, then click Generate Redirect URL. Copy the Redirect URL using the copy icon next to the field. Keep this window open.
Generating a new Redirect URL overwrites the existing configuration immediately, even without saving. If the Redirect URL is generated again, update it in the Revizto app as well.
Add the Redirect URL and Activate the App in Revizto
- Return to the Revizto Developer portal. Under Custom apps, click the app name to edit. Replace the placeholder in Redirect URIs with the Egnyte Redirect URL and click Update.
- Turn on the Active toggle for the app and click Activate to confirm.
Test the Connection in Egnyte
- Click on Test configuration.
- A new browser tab opens the Revizto sign-in page. Sign in with the Revizto account. When Authentication Complete appears, close the tab and return to Egnyte.
- The Tools step will show Successfully connected to the server, followed by the list of Revizto tools. Set permissions for the tools and click Continue.
- Review the server configuration on the Summary step and click Save.
Refer to the admin guide on AI Connectors for understanding tool permissions.
Manage Connector
Admins have the ability to edit, publish, unpublish, disconnect, and delete the connector. Refer here for more details.
Connect Revizto as an End User
Users can add and use Revizto by following the steps as mentioned here.
Revizto tools act with the permissions of the signed-in user. If a user cannot see a project in Revizto, AI Assistant cannot access it either.
Troubleshooting
Redirect URIs Field Shows an Invalid Format Error
Revizto accepts only complete URLs that start with https://. Enter a placeholder such as https://www.example.com when creating the app, then replace it with the Egnyte Redirect URL.
OAuth Authentication Fails
Confirm that the Revizto app is Active, that its Redirect URIs field contains the exact Redirect URL Egnyte generated most recently, and that the Egnyte connector matches the region of the Revizto account. Start the sign-in from Egnyte (Test configuration for admins, Connect for users).
Client Secret is No Longer Available
Regenerate the secret in the Revizto Developer portal and enter the new value in OAuth Client Secret in Egnyte.
Connector is Published but Users Cannot See It
Confirm the connector shows Published in the External MCPs list. Users may need to refresh the browser or start a new AI Assistant conversation.
Tools Return Empty Results
Check that the user's Revizto account has access to the projects being queried and that the user connected the connector for the correct region.
