Web UI - Timezone-Independent Custom Metadata Dates, Public Link Verification, Copy and Move to External Drives in the File Audit Log

External Release Notes: Web UI (September 23, 2026)

New Features and Enhancements

Timezone-Independent Custom Metadata Dates

Egnyte now supports Fixed Date behavior for the Date attribute type in custom metadata. Admins and authorized Power Users (with Role-based Administration) can choose between Timezone-Aware and Fixed Date behavior, with Fixed Date preserving the same calendar date for all users regardless of their timezone.

Fixed Date prevents date shifting across geographies, providing consistent dates for metadata such as contract effective dates, expiry dates, and date of birth. Search and filtering also return consistent results regardless of the user’s timezone.

- Fixed Date is the default behavior for newly created Date attributes.
- Timezone-Aware Date attributes can be converted to Fixed Date when needed. Converting a Fixed Date attribute back to Timezone-Aware is not supported.

Public Link Verification

Administrators can now require recipients to verify their email address before opening newly created public links, providing greater control and visibility over external access. Verified emails appear in access reports, owner notifications, and watermarks, while signed-in domain users can access links without verification.

- This feature is available for all the New Generation Platform plans. Contact the Egnyte account manager or Egnyte Sale team for more information.
- The setting is disabled by default and applies only to public links created after the setting is enabled.

Copy and Move to External Drives in the File Audit Report

When a user copies or moves a file between an Egnyte drive and another local, external, or network drive using the Desktop App on Windows, that action now appears in the File Audit Report. This gives admins visibility into copy and move activity that previously went unrecorded, making it easier to track how files move in and out of Egnyte.

- This feature is available on Enterprise Lite, Enterprise, Elite, and Ultimate plans. Contact the Egnyte account manager or Egnyte Sale team for more information.
- This feature requires Desktop App Win v4.3.0+ and is available on Windows only.

Improvements in Bulk Extraction (Limited Availability)

Egnyte has introduced additional enhancements to Bulk Extraction, making it easier to configure extraction jobs, manage access, reuse existing configurations, and monitor extraction activity.

  • Search in the folder picker: Users can now search for folders when selecting locations for an extraction job, helping them find the required folders more quickly in large folder structures.
  • Pattern-based folder selection: Users can select folders using wildcard or pattern-based criteria when defining an extraction job location. This simplifies configuration for jobs that need to apply across folders with consistent naming patterns.
  • Duplicate extraction jobs: Users can now duplicate an existing extraction job to reuse its configuration. This reduces setup time when creating similar jobs with different locations, tag selections, or extraction requirements.
  • Bulk Extraction access control: Administrators can create new role or update existing to delegate access to power users. Administrator needs to enable Can manage Bulk Extraction capability under the Edit Role modal.
  • Smart filters and job summary statistics: Bulk Extraction now includes smart filters and an extraction-job summary statistics dashboard, providing clearer visibility into job activity and helping users quickly identify and review relevant jobs.

These enhancements are available to customers with Bulk Extraction enabled. Bulk Extraction remains in Limited Availability for customers on the Ultimate plan; contact the Products team to request for this feature.

Issues Addressed

AI Agent Test Prompt in Workflows

When testing a workflow that included an AI Agent step, the test prompt could return an internal server error if processing took longer than the allowed timeout. The same prompt completed successfully when run directly in the AI Agent outside of a workflow. The test AI Agent step is now processed asynchronously, so longer-running prompts complete without the connection being dropped.

Bookmarks - Folder Icon Not Opening the Folder

Clicking the folder icon in the Bookmarks section did not open the corresponding folder in File Explorer or Finder. No folder opened and no error message was shown. Clicking the folder icon for a bookmark now opens the folder as expected.

Desktop Device Entitlement - Device Not Authorized

Administrators configuring Desktop Device Entitlement with a large number of UPN suffixes could exceed the supported length of the stored suffix list. Affected users then received a Device is not authorized error after signing in through SSO. The supported suffix list length has been increased, and validation now rejects configurations that exceed the supported limits.

Additional Information and Resources

The current release contains a few improvements to existing functionality.

  • Minor UI Improvements

  • Minor performance, security, and stability improvements

  • Minor bug fixes

These changes will be available to all users by September 23, 2026.
