Apple will release MacOS v 27 Golden Gate on September 14, 2026. We are actively working to officially support it with the Egnyte Desktop App Core for Mac.
We have already completed an initial round of compatibility testing against the MacOS Golden Gate beta releases. Issues identified during that testing have been fixed, which include:
- An application stability issue that caused Desktop App Core to close unexpectedly during extended sessions.
- An installation issue affecting the Egnyte command line interface (egcli) on Golden Gate.
Final validation against the public release of MacOS Golden Gate is now underway.

We will confirm official support for each application in a follow-up announcement once the corresponding release is available.
What to Do Before Desktop App Officially Supports the New MacOS?
Until we confirm official support for the application, we recommend the following:
- Hold off on upgrading to MacOS Golden Gate on machines that rely on the Egnyte Desktop App for day-to-day work.
- Upgrade to the latest available Desktop App version before you move to Golden Gate, so you are on the most recent set of fixes.
- If you have already upgraded and see unexpected behavior, contact Egnyte Support with a description of the issue and your Desktop App version.
Operating System Support Policy
In line with Egnyte's operating system support policy, which covers the three most recent MacOS versions, the addition of MacOS Golden Gate means MacOS Sonoma will no longer be officially supported. The Desktop App may continue to install and operate on Sonoma, but Egnyte will no longer validate new releases or provide issue-specific fixes for that version.
This keeps our development and quality efforts focused on MacOS Golden Gate, MacOS Tahoe, and MacOS Sequoia.
Migrating from the Legacy App
Because official Golden Gate support arrives earlier for Desktop App Core, we encourage users still on the Legacy app to migrate to the new Desktop App Core for Mac, which offers:
- Improved performance and stability
- Enhanced security and compliance
- Earlier and continued support for new macOS releases
