Apple released MacOS v 27 Golden Gate on September 14, 2026. We are actively working to officially support it with the Egnyte Desktop App Core for Mac.
Compatibility testing against both the MacOS Golden Gate beta and the public release is complete. The issues found during testing have been resolved in Desktop App Core for Mac v 1.21.0, and final validation is now wrapping up ahead of the v 1.22.0 release.

Can Desktop App Core Be Used on Golden Gate Before v 1.22.0?
Yes. If users have already upgraded to MacOS Golden Gate, Desktop App Core for Mac v 1.21.0 or later is safe to use. All functional issues identified during Golden Gate testing are fixed in v 1.21.0, and no blocking or data-related issues remain open.
The remaining work before v 1.22.0 is final validation and a cosmetic fix — a missing tooltip when hovering over the Desktop App Core icon in the menu bar. It does not affect functionality.
Official support will be formally confirmed with the v 1.22.0 release.

What to Do Before Desktop App Officially Supports the New MacOS?
For Desktop App Core for Mac:
- Upgrade to Desktop App Core v 1.21.0 or later before upgrading the operating system to Golden Gate. This avoids the drive disconnection described above.
- If Golden Gate has already been installed on an earlier Desktop App version and drives are disconnected, install v 1.21.0 or later. The drives reconnect once the update completes.
For Desktop App for Mac (Legacy):
- Hold off on upgrading to MacOS Golden Gate on machines that rely on the Legacy app for day-to-day work, until official support is confirmed.
Operating System Support Policy
In line with Egnyte's operating system support policy, which covers the three most recent MacOS versions, the addition of MacOS Golden Gate means MacOS Sonoma will no longer be officially supported. The Desktop App may continue to install and operate on Sonoma, but Egnyte will no longer validate new releases or provide issue-specific fixes for that version.
This keeps our development and quality efforts focused on MacOS Golden Gate, MacOS Tahoe, and MacOS Sequoia.
Migrating from the Legacy App
Because official Golden Gate support arrives earlier for Desktop App Core, we encourage users still on the Legacy app to migrate to the new Desktop App Core for Mac, which offers:
- Improved performance and stability
- Enhanced security and compliance
- Earlier and continued support for new macOS releases
