External Release Notes: Desktop App for Windows 4.6.1 (August 25, 2026)
Issues Addressed
Explorer Slowness at Desktop App Startup for Users With Large Offline Folder Structures
File Explorer became slow to respond for a period after the Desktop App started, particularly for users with deep or extensive Offline Folder structures across multiple mounted locations. Browsing, opening, and saving files could be noticeably degraded until the activity subsided. The Desktop App now applies Visual indicators to Offline Folders more efficiently. Users with large offline folder structures should see faster, more responsive navigation immediately after the Desktop App launches.
Added File Locking Support for RISA-3D and RISAFloor Files
RISA-3D and RISAFloor design files (.r3d) opened from the Egnyte drive were not locked automatically, and locks applied manually from the Web UI did not prevent other users from opening the same file for editing. The Desktop App now applies an Egnyte lock automatically when a .r3d file is opened, and the lock is visible to other users, preventing simultaneous edits. As automatic RISA-3D and RISAFloor locking relies on uploading a temporary lock file to the cloud and deleting it afterwards, it requires Full permission on the folder where the files are stored.
File Locks Expired While a File Was Still Open
A file lock could expire while the file was still open and being edited, allowing another user to acquire the lock and edit the same file at the same time. This was most visible in AutoCAD workflows, where a .dwg file opened from the Egnyte drive would stop being protected a few minutes after opening. Manual locking and automatic lock renewal now work reliably, and locks remain in place for the duration of the editing session.
Locked File Went Missing After a Device Restart
A file that had been opened and locked from the Egnyte drive could no longer be found after the device was restarted, even though lock history for the file was present. This could occur when a previous editing session ended unexpectedly. Files now remain accessible and correctly displayed on the drive after a restart.
