Desktop App Core for Mac v1.20.0 - ABC General Availability, ALUI Redesign, and Upload Floating Bar

External Release Notes: Desktop App Core for Mac v 1.20.0 (August 12, 2026)

New Features and Improvements

Adaptive Block Caching (ABC) General Availability

We are excited to announce that with this release Adaptive Block Caching (ABC) has reached General Availability (GA).

Adaptive Block Caching (ABC) is a next-generation caching technology built into the Egnyte Desktop App, designed to transform how teams work with large and complex files by intelligently streaming and syncing only what is necessary for a given period of time. This means faster file access, smoother performance, and a more responsive experience.

- Adaptive Block Caching is exclusively available via the .pkg installer, which can be found on the Egnyte Desktop App for Mac downloads page. For details on enabling this feature, please refer to the Adaptive Block Caching Overview.
- ABC is available with purchase of Specialized File Handler Add-on or Gen 4 AEC plans which includes - (AEC Essential, AEC Elite, AEC Ultimate). Contact the Egnyte account manager or Egnyte Sales team for more information.

Upload Status Floating Bar

Egnyte is introducing a floating status bar that surfaces upload activity to users on Mac, giving a persistent view of in-progress uploads. Closing the window will not cancel uploads. This feature is disabled by default and can be enabled from the application Preferences.

The speed is in Megabytes/Gigabytes. The uploads cannot be cancelled.

Application UI: Multi-domain usability improvements

We are happy to announce that the Application Level UI (ALUI) is redesigned to provide a more consistent and intuitive experience for users managing multiple Egnyte domains across the Desktop Apps for Mac.

What's new:

  • Global Uploads and Locked Files view: The previous Uploads & Locks tab has been replaced by the new Sync & Storage tab, bringing Uploads, Locked Files, Skipped Items, Connected Folders, and Offline Folders together in a single view across all drives.
  • Clearer profile-to-drive mapping: Drive management has moved to a new Accounts & Drives tab, where drives are grouped by the account (domain and user) they belong to. Account-level settings are now clearly separated from drive-specific configuration.
  • Independent Settings tab: Introduces a standalone Settings section for application-wide Preferences and Help & Support, replacing the previous multi-purpose settings dialog.
