External Release Notes: Desktop App Core for Mac v 1.19.0 (July 8, 2026)
New Features and Improvements
AI Assistant Now Opens in the Main Desktop App Window
Previously, selecting the AI Assistant option from the Egnyte Actions menu opened the AI Assistant in a dedicated webview window with the selected files or folders set as context. With this release, this action now opens the AI Assistant directly within the main Desktop App window. The selected file or folder context is preserved. This change aligns the AI Assistant experience with upcoming platform-wide updates to the feature.
Egnyte Actions Menu in Connected Folders
The Desktop App now exposes the More Egnyte Actions menu in Connected Folders on macOS, replacing the native context-menu options previously offered there. Connected Folder users get the consistent set of Egnyte Actions available elsewhere in the app.
Multi-Entity Management Support
Multi-Entity Management (MEM) is now supported in the Desktop App for Mac. When a user authenticates to a domain that is interlinked with other Egnyte domains, the Desktop App detects the associated domains and automatically authenticates the user into them without requiring a separate manual login per domain. This simplifies sign-in for organizations that operate across multiple linked Egnyte tenants.
This feature is the first in a powerful suite that will allow the users to manage multiple Egnyte accounts. To enable and benefit from Multiple Entity Management contact us.
Enforcement of Web UI Access Restrictions (Map Drive Access Only)
The Desktop App now respects the Map Drive access-only restriction configured at the Web UI level. For users assigned this restriction, Web UI-linked actions are hidden across the app — including context-menu items such as View Online and other in-app options such as View all links that would otherwise redirect the user to the browser. This ensures the Desktop App enforces the same access policy as the Web UI for restricted users.
