Desktop App for Windows v 4.4.1 - Miscellaneous Improvements

External Release Notes: Desktop App for Windows 4.4.1 (June 11, 2026)

Issues Addressed

Crashes in the Desktop App

Resolved several crash scenarios. The fixes address memory-related crashes that could occur during normal Desktop App operation, improving overall reliability.

Self-Conflict Copies Generated for .bak Files

Saving a .dwg file in Civil3D 2026 caused the Desktop App to generate a self-conflict copy of the accompanying .bak file. The Desktop App now correctly handles the .bak file produced during Civil3D saves, preventing spurious conflict copies from being created.

TIFF Files Exported from QGIS were Skipped and Not Uploaded to Egnyte

TIFF files generated by QGIS's model export feature were incorrectly flagged as incomplete or corrupt by the Desktop App, preventing them from being uploaded to Egnyte. The Desktop App was detecting a mismatch between the in-progress file size during QGIS's write and the final size, causing the upload to be blocked entirely. The Desktop App now correctly handles this scenario and uploads QGIS-exported TIFF files as expected.

File Uploads Failed Until App Restart

Files copied to an Egnyte drive were not uploaded to the cloud until the Desktop App was manually restarted. This was caused by a race condition in the internal upload storage component that could leave a file stuck in an unrecoverable upload state. The Desktop App now handles this correctly, ensuring files are uploaded reliably without requiring a restart.

Co-Editing ‘Not Set’ Preference not Persisting

Setting the Desktop App co-editing preference to Not set did not persist, the setting was silently reverted to Microsoft Office Desktop on every cloud config refresh or app restart. As a result, users who expected a multi-option co-editing picker when opening files were taken directly to Microsoft Office Desktop instead. The Desktop App now correctly persists the Not set preference, and the integration picker appears as expected when no specific co-editing application has been selected.
