External Release Notes: Desktop App Core for Mac v 1.18.0 (May 26, 2026)
Issues Addressed
Inconsistent AutoSave Behavior for .xlsb Files on macOS
On macOS, Excel AutoSave was disabled when opening .xlsb files directly from the Desktop App, even though the same files supported AutoSave in other access methods and on Windows.
Intermittent Self-Conflict Copies on macOS
The Desktop App could intermittently create a conflict copy of a file even when only a single user was working on it.
Unnecessary Lock Notifications for Font Files
Font files (.OTF and .TTF) used by design applications and font management tools could appear as locked even when users were not actively editing them. This caused repeated lock notifications and confusion for users working with shared font libraries.
