Cloud migration feature enables the customers to migrate their data seamlessly from cloud sources to Egnyte. The migration process is carried out through a well designed cloud migration wizard.
Users can click on the Migrate & Replicate option in the left menu in Secure & Govern. The existing migration jobs will be listed in the Migrate tab. Users can Add source or Create job.
When the users create a new migration job, a step-by-step wizard appears for them to create the job.
Prerequisites
- The end-user must have a Secure & Govern Tenant
- The desired cloud service should be added as a Content Source in Secure & Govern
Common Use Cases
- Migrating data to Egnyte such as sites, portals, sub-sites, shared documents, and others
- Migrating user data to Egnyte such as private data to Egnyte private folders

Role-based Permissions (Limited Availability)
Admins can configure these capabilities for migration users as per their roles enabling them with the permissions to view, modify, or create migrations.
- Navigate to Collaborate -> Settings -> User Management -> User Types & Roles.
- Click on Secure & Govern Roles and click on the specific role to configure.
- Enable Migrate & Replicate (disabled by default). Select the permissions for users to see All Migrations & Replications (default), Migrations Only, or Replications Only. In created dropdown, select by everyone (default) or by themselves. Admins can then configure the associated permissions as per the selected option.
The available permissions change based on the selected Users see and created options. For example, when Migrations only and by themselves are selected, only permissions related to creating migrations and true-ups are available. Other permissions are disabled because they are not applicable to the selected scope.
This feature is applicable for customers with Unified User Directory Management for Collaborate and Secure & Govern enabled.
- Unified user director management for Collaborate and Secure & Govern is currently in Limited Availability for all customers with only one Egnyte Content Source active in Secure & Govern. To request this feature, contact our Products team.
Limitations
- Permissions cannot be migrated
- Egnyte allows an unlimited number of migration jobs. However, a maximum of 50 jobs can be run concurrently at any given time. Try finalizing the active jobs in case of an error
- Migration should not exceed the hard limits of 5TB in data size or 5 million objects for a single migration job
