Overview
SharePoint Online (SPO) to Egnyte cloud migration feature helps customers to migrate their third-party data seamlessly into Egnyte cloud through a well-designed cloud migration wizard. It can also migrate user data to the Egnyte cloud.
Common Use Cases
- Migrating Microsoft SharePoint online data to Egnyte such as sites, portals, sub-sites, shared documents, and others.
- Migrating Microsoft SharePoint online user data to Egnyte such as private data to Egnyte private folders.
Prerequisites
- SharePoint Online should be added as a Content Source in Egnyte.
- To establish the connection to the Microsoft cloud, any one of the following SharePoint permissions are required:
- Global Administrator
- Privileged Role Administrator
- A custom directory role that includes the capability to grant permissions to applications: microsoft.directory/servicePrincipals/managePermissionGrantsForAll.microsoft-company-admin
All the above permissions as Global Administrator/Privileged Role Administrator/Custom Directory Role are required temporarily to establish the connection. Once the connection is established, the migration operator can either revoke the permissions from the user or delete the user as these are not used in actual data migration.

Limitations
- Permissions cannot be migrated.
- Migration should not exceed the hard limits of 5TB in data size or 5 million objects for a single migration job.
- Migrating more than 5000+ sites will be very slow. It is advisable to split the sites into multiple groups and then start the migration job for each group separately rather than doing a single migration job.
- Migrating OneNote (.one) files is currently not supported.
