Create and Setup a Migration Agent

Migration App allows domain admins to easily migrate data from On-Premises sources to Egnyte. 

A migration agent is essential for carrying out these migrations. Egnyte enables users to easily create and set up a migration agent through a simple step-by-step process.

Steps to Create and Set up an Agent

1. Log into the Migration App and click on On-Prem Migration.
   
2. Click on the Add New Agent button on the Migration Dashboard.
   
3. Click on Download Migration Agent for Windows to download the agent setup and click Next.
   
4. The setup file will be downloaded on the user’s system. Open the file to start the setup. 
   
5. Click Next.
   
6. Check the Open Cloud Migration Manager Agent after exiting Setup Wizard and click on Finish.
   
7. Go back to the Migration Dashboard and click Next. Enter the Agent Name and click on Generate Agent ID.  
   
8. Click Next to view the ID generated.
   
9. Copy the Agent ID and Access Token as they will be needed later. Click Next to continue. 
   Note: Token will not be shown again and it expires in 15 minutes.  
   
10. Click on Done to finish.
     
     

 

Steps to Configure and Connect an Agent

Once the setup is completed, Cloud Migration Manager Agent from the system tray will automatically pop up. 

1. Enter the destination Egnyte domain, the corresponding Egnyte username, and the Agent ID copied earlier. 
   
2. Enter the Windows credentials and click on Apply.
   
3. The registration process will begin, and the status will change to Connected once it is completed
   
4. Navigate to the Migration Dashboard, and the newly created agent will be connected. The agent can be used to create the migration jobs.
   

Revoke Certificate and Get New Token

1. Click on the three-dots icon for the agent and click on Revoke Certificate & New Token
   
2. Click on Confirm
   
3. Click on Copy Token to copy the token.
   
4. Click on Apply Token in the system tray.
   |
5. Click on Apply to confirm. The new token will be applied. 
   

Configure Certificates for Existing Agents

1. Click on the three-dots icon for an agent and click on Generate Token.
   
2. Copy and apply the token as mentioned in the steps earlier.
