Enabling or Disabling Auto-Update

The auto-update setting can be configured during the process of marking a folder for offline access. A prompt is displayed with the option to enable or skip auto-updates and to include or exclude subfolders.

The setting can also be modified using the More menu (⋯) by selecting the enable or disable auto-update option.

When files or folders are marked for offline access, the download status is displayed in the Dynamic Island at the top of the screen, where the sync can be paused, resumed, or cancelled.

A new auto-update icon will appear in the metadata line for any folder or file with auto-update enabled. When the feature is disabled, the icon is not shown.

If auto-update is disabled for a file or folder, the sync can be triggered manually via the three-dot menu by selecting Update manually.

When do Auto-Updates Occur

Auto-updates are triggered in the following cases:

  • When the application is launched
  • When the app transitions from background to foreground
  • When the folder marked for offline is opened or refreshed from the listing view
  • When the Offline tab is opened

Auto-updates apply only to files in the folder marked for auto-update. Subfolder contents are not updated automatically.

Storage Considerations

If a mark offline with auto-update action requires more storage than what is currently allocated for offline files on the device, a warning message is displayed. Three options are provided:

  • Continue: Increases the offline storage allocation to unlimited and proceeds with the update
  • Cancel: Closes the prompt with no changes made

Offline Mode Behavior

When the device is offline, the Offline tab displays a message indicating the time of the last successful sync. The message also recommends reconnecting to the internet to access the latest content.
