End of Life Announcement - Egnyte for MS Teams v1.1 and Below

Egnyte for MS Teams v1.1 has supported seamless file sharing and collaboration within Microsoft Teams for several years. However, as Microsoft continues to evolve its platform, Egnyte is retiring the legacy integration to focus on delivering a more secure, scalable, and feature-rich experience with the latest version.

Egnyte is officially announcing the End of Life (EOL) for Egnyte for MS Teams v1.1 and below as of June 6th, 2025.

What Does This Mean for the Users?

While the users may continue using MS Teams v1.1 and below until June 6th, 2025, it is essential to note that after this date the integration will be disabled and will no longer function.

As the legacy Egnyte for MS Teams integration reaches its end-of-life, we strongly recommend transitioning to the latest version, available on Microsoft AppSource. Full integration with MS Teams continues to be supported and available through this updated version.

The new version offers improved performance, modern user experience, and enhanced collaboration features.

Upgrading to the Latest Version

These step-by-step instructions help identify the current version, disable the legacy integration, and enable the latest version of the app Egnyte for MS Teams.

Prerequisites

To complete this upgrade, the user must have:

• Egnyte Admin access
• Microsoft 365 Global Admin permissions

Check the Current Integration Version

In some organizations, multiple versions of Egnyte for MS Teams may exist, including sideloaded beta versions or earlier custom deployments.

To check which version is currently installed:

• Open Microsoft Teams Admin Center. Navigate to Teams Apps > Manage Apps -> Search for Egnyte
  
  
• Review installed apps:
  • If the listed version is below 3.0.1, it's the legacy integration. The user may see multiple versions, including sideloaded or beta versions
    

Block the Legacy Egnyte MS Teams App

Disabling the older version prevents confusion between Egnyte apps and ensures users only interact with the supported integration.

• In Microsoft Teams Admin Center, navigate to Teams Apps > Manage Apps.  Search for the legacy Egnyte app
• Select the legacy app (if enabled) and select the Action as Delete or Block app
  

This action disables the app across the organization or selected user groups

Install the Latest Egnyte for MS Teams (v3.0.1 or Higher)

To upgrade to the current version, select Egnyte for Microsoft Teams v3.0.1 or higher and check if the status is Unblocked.

Notify the Users

Communicate the change to your team:

• Let users know the older integration will no longer work after June 6, 2025.
• Encourage them to use the upgraded app.
• Share the User Guide to support a smooth transition.
