Web UI - Browse by Tags and New tools in BIM File Preview

New Features And Enhancements 

Browse By Tags

Egnyte now provides the ability to navigate through the content using the metadata tags. The users can filter the files or folders based on the tag values. 

To launch the Browse by Tags view, click on the Browse by Tags toggle near the top right of the folder list view.

This feature will be available on December 16, 2024.

BIM File Preview - New Navigation And Viewing Tools 

New tools have been added to the native BIM preview experience to allow users to view their files in greater detail.

  • Orbit - Navigate the model in first person via a combination of keyboard keys, and mouse movement. The other options in the dropdown include Pan, Zoom, and Orbit. 
  • Cutting - Cut a model on the X, Y, and Z plane.
  • View - Select a preset view to quickly orient the model from the desired angle.
  • Object tools - Zoom to, Isolate, or hide components within the model
  • Reset - The model will return to its original state. All hidden components and modifications to the model view will be reverted.

This feature is only available via the Specialized File Handler Add-on.

PDF File Locking

Users with editing rights on a PDF can now set lock on the file automatically once they click on the Edit button. Once they leave the edit session, the file automatically gets unlocked.

Only Admins and Folder owners can manually unlock the file from the context menu.

Issues Addressed

Incorrect Notification For Password Length 

The new users were receiving inaccurate notifications regarding the minimum password length.

Issues In Reviewing The Workflows 

The Review button did not appear for the assignee when a workflow was assigned to them. Additionally, the workflow status continued to show In Progress even after the review was completed. 

Power User with 'Can Manage all Standard Users' Role Unable to Add New Users from Permissions Pop-up

Power Users  with can manage all Standard Users role (and disabled can invite Standard Users option) were unable to add new Standard Users from the permission pop-up.

 

Additional Information And Resources

The current release contains a few improvements to existing functionality.

  • Minor performance, security, and stability improvements
  • Minor UI improvements
  • Minor bug fixes

 These changes will be available to all users by December 12, 2024.
