External Release Notes: Android Mobile App v8.48 (February 15, 2024)
New Features and Enhancements
URL Files
The Egnyte Android Mobile App now provides the ability to create URL files or links as files. The Create/Upload menu provides the option to create URL files.
Users can specify the URL or Link and provide a URL Name. For example, the link can be to a website, a document, or an internal URL.
On tapping the Save button, a .url file is created with a link specified.
Once the link is clicked, it opens in the previewer where the users can see the link and click on Open to navigate to the associated URL.
Other file options like Share, Comments, Copy, Move, and Rename can be accessed from the context menu.
- The feature allows the users to create links with http and https protocols only.
- ‘Workflow’ and ‘Edit’ feature is not available for ‘Link’ files on the Android app.
Issues Addressed
Project Folder Detection Issue
The release fixes the Project Folder Detection notification issue which popped up even after the user clicked the No, thanks button not to allow location permissions and not to receive such notifications. Now, when the user taps on No, thanks when the dialog pops up, the notifications related to reaching the location of project folders are not shown.
Additionally, the app now enables the user to control the Project Folder Detection notifications from the application Settings menu. To enable Project Folder Detection notifications, go to Settings and in the Location section, switch on the Project Folder Detection toggle.
