How Can Admins Switch From Storage Sync to Smart Cache?

At this time, direct data migration from Storage Sync to Smart Cache is not supported. Admins must install the Smart Cache device and synchronize data from the cloud before it can be used.

For those using Storage Sync to migrate data to Egnyte, switch to Smart Cache once the initial data migration is complete.

What if the user does not Have Any Available Storage Sync Licenses But Would Like to Migrate from Storage Sync to Smart Cache. Can they Request Temporary Licenses?

Since Smart Cache uses the same licenses as Storage Sync, users need to have some available to complete the migration. Contact the Egnyte Account Manager to request temporary licenses.

Can a disk be migrated from Storage Sync to Smart Cache?

Smart Cache does not allow disk migration from Storage Sync today. Any sync has to be done from the cloud to the Smart Cache device at the initial installation.

Can Smart Cache be Deployed on a NETGEAR Device Similar to Storage Sync?

No, Smart Cache installers are only supported on VMware ESXi, Nutanix, and Windows Hyper-V hypervisors. Review the helpdesk article for further guidance on choosing the right Small Form Factor (SFF) device for the remote job site.
