Admins can enable or disable Egnyte tools in AI conversations and control when each tool can run. They can set a tool to Custom, Always Allow, Always Ask, or Deny to organize files and folders as per the configured setting.
For example, file and folder tools help users organize content by creating files and folders, copying and renaming files, moving files, and updating file metadata. Users can also use Egnyte tools to check the status of asynchronous jobs.
Currently, Egnyte tools are available to domain administrators only. Users who are not domain administrators will not see the File and Folder Tools connector and cannot use these tools in AI Assistant or in Agents.

Known Limitations
Configure File and Folder Tools
- Navigate to Settings -> AI Powered Features -> AI Connectors
- Click on Egnyte Tools tab.
- Admins can click on the dropdown at the tool level and select the desired option (Always allow, Always ask, or Deny). Admins can also select Custom.
- Under Custom, Admins can configure the setting for each tool by using the respective icons to Always allow, Always ask, or Deny.
- Click on Save changes.
Use File and Folder Tools
Admins can choose to enable or disable file and folder tools using the toggle from Connectors.
Admins can ask AI to organize files and folders. AI Assistant and Agents may ask for clarification before taking an action and will execute it according to the configured setting. For example, in the scenario below, AI asks for clarification about the rename action. Because the rename tool is set to Always Ask, it also requests the user’s confirmation before renaming the files.
Known Limitations
File and Folder Tools are designed for straightforward folder organization and for renaming a small number of files within a conversation. They are not intended for bulk operations. Organizing large folders, or renaming files in bulk, is not supported in AI Assistant or in Agents.
