In general, the Desktop App handles standard files with generic processes such as opening, syncing, and locking. However, a few third-party applications require special handling when working with the Egnyte Desktop App for optimal performance. This article lists applications and what to expect when working with certain files. The scope of this article will be expanded as more supported applications with special handlings get added.
RISA-3D and RISAFloor (.r3d)
Because RISA-3D and RISAFloor rely on temporary lock files, their custom locking mechanisms do not adhere to standard file-locking protocol. To ensure proper integration, the Desktop App uses specialized handling that automatically creates an Egnyte lock whenever a RISA-3D or RISAFloor design file (.r3d) is opened directly from an Egnyte drive.
Requirement
Full permission on the folder where the file is stored. Without it, the lock will not be properly released.
