Overview
Persona-Based User Onboarding is designed to help users realize the value of Egnyte by guiding them through core and advanced capabilities tailored to their role, industry, and Egnyte plan. For new users, this is especially beneficial, allowing them to get up to speed on the basics in record time. For existing users – even those who may be quite familiar with Egnyte or long-time users – it’s a great way to get a refresh on some of the most valuable capabilities the platform has to offer.
The feature offers the following key capabilities:
- Role-based onboarding journeys for Admins and Power Users
- Structured onboarding via progressive levels and tasks provided as a checklist, allowing users to easily track their progress.
- On-demand, guided experience to accelerate product adoption
- Tasks are uniquely tailored for each user, based on their Egnyte plan, industry, and user type (Admin or Power User)
Accessing Onboarding
- A user can click on the Get Started button to reveal the onboarding tasks at any time, and may close the list using the X button
- Completed tasks are tracked on the task list, and an award badge is displayed upon completion of each level.
- The button for Secure & Govern Tasks is only available to Admins on plans that include Secure & Govern.
- Clicking Secure & Governor Sandbox, also only visible to Admins, navigates to a common Sandbox with dummy data, which allows users to understand how data appears in a fully operational Secure & Govern environment. Note that Admins can also access this Sandbox from the Plan Details page by clicking on Start the Data Security & Governance Product Tour button.
Persona-Based Onboarding for New Users
Immediately upon logging into their Egnyte domain, each new user will be offered Persona-Based Onboarding. The task list will appear with a series of tasks, guiding the user through the experience.
The task list will automatically appear the first three times a new user logs in. After that, the Get Started button will remain clickable in the top menu bar, available anytime the user wants to revisit the onboarding.
Persona-Based Onboarding for Existing Users
Users on existing domains also have access to Persona-Based Onboarding. They just need to click on the Get Started button to reveal the onboarding tasks at any time, and close the list using the X button. For existing users, the onboarding task list will never appear unless invoked by the user
The feature is being rolled out gradually for existing direct paid domains across all Egnyte plans.
Disabling Persona-Based Onboarding
An Admin may request to disable the Persona-Based Onboarding feature by submitting a request to the Products team. It can be disabled or enabled for the entire domain.
