Egnyte for SharePoint Online v2

The Egnyte for SharePoint Online integration allows administrators to embed the Egnyte file server directly within a SharePoint site. This ensures that SharePoint documentation always reflects the most current information stored in Egnyte without the need for manual re-uploads.

Prerequisites

Before starting the installation, ensure that the following administrative privileges are granted: 

  • Egnyte Admin permissions 
  • Microsoft Tenant: Global Admin rights with Microsoft Admin permissions enabled for SharePoint.

Installation 

  1. Download the Egnyte for SharePoint App manifest file.
  2. Navigate to Sharepoint Admin Center.
  3. Select More features and click Open under the Apps section.

  4. On the Manage Apps page, click the Upload button and select the downloaded manifest file.

  5. Once the file is uploaded, an Enable app panel will appear. Select the preferred App availability (for example, Enable this app and add it to all sites) and click Enable app.

  6. Confirm that Egnyte for SharePoint v2 appears as Enabled in the app list.

Adding the Egnyte Web Part to a Site

Once the Egnyte app is added to the catalog, the Egnyte component can be added to a Sharepoint site, and users can then use Egnyte inside the Sharepoint site.  

  1. Navigate to the SharePoint site (for example, https://yourtenantname.sharepoint.com). 
  2. Go to the specific page where the Egnyte Web view needs to be added and click Edit

  3. Hover over the section to add the view and click the gray + (plus) button. Integrations_SharePoint Online v2 6.png
  4. Search for and select the Egnyte for SharePoint v2 app from the dialog.

  5. Authenticate the Egnyte domain and approve the requested app permissions when prompted.

Configuration & Customization 

By default, the app displays the Shared root folder. To customize this: 

  1. Select the Edit properties (sliders icon) on the top of Egnyte Web Part.

  2. In the right-hand panel, enter the specific Default directory path to be displayed. Click Apply to save the changes.

  3. (Optional) Use standard SharePoint settings to adjust the Web Part’s layout or size to fit the page design.

Troubleshooting Consent Required Error: 

If there is an error stating that the user or administrator has not consented to use the application, it would be required to manually grant tenant-wide consent.

  1. Click the authorization link and confirm consent.

  2. Complete the Egnyte redirection process. 
  3. Return to the SharePoint site and refresh the page to clear the error.

Uninstalling integration

  1. To disable and remove the integration navigate to the SharePoint Admin Center.
  2. Select More features and click Open under the Apps section.

  3. On the Manage Apps page, locate the Egnyte for SharePoint V2 app. Select it and click on Delete.

  4. Confirm the deletion when prompted. This will remove the integration component from all sites in the tenant.
