Overview
Some users may encounter an error message referring to a Keychain Error when attempting to log in to the application on macOS. The message often includes the code errSecInteractionNotAllowed (status code -25308) and can prevent successful login or account saving.
Cause
This issue does not originate from the Egnyte application but from macOS Keychain Access, a built-in system feature that securely stores passwords and sensitive login data.
In some cases, the Keychain permissions or stored data may become corrupted or misconfigured. When this happens, applications are unable to save or retrieve login credentials, resulting in the error.
Resetting the Keychain restores it to a clean, default state and typically resolves the issue.
Resolution Steps
Step 1: Reset Default Keychains
- Open Keychain Access:
- Press Command (⌘) + Spacebar to open Spotlight Search
- Type Keychain Access and press Enter
- Click on the Open Keychain Access button
- In the menu bar, select Keychain Access > Settings....
- In the settings window, click Reset Default Keychains....
- When prompted, enter the Mac login password (the password used to unlock the device).
- Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the reset.
The old keychain is archived automatically; it is not deleted.
Step 2: Restart the Mac
After the reset is complete, the computer should be restarted to ensure all changes take effect properly.
Step 3: Attempt to Log In Again
Once the system has restarted, relaunch the Egnyte application and attempt to log in. In most cases, the Keychain error will no longer appear.
If the Issue Persists
If the error continues after completing the steps above, the problem may relate to the macOS user profile rather than the Keychain itself. The following actions are recommended:
- Contact Apple Support: Since this is a macOS-level issue, Apple Support can provide further troubleshooting.
- Create a New macOS User Profile: A new user account automatically generates a fresh Keychain, which can often resolve persistent issues.
