What Can I Expect After Adding a Content Source?

All Egnyte admins including MEM domains will have access to the Secure & Govern menu.

Adding your content sources under protection is one of the first steps toward securing and governing your content. Once you have added your source, Egnyte provides you a single pane view into sensitive content and governance issues across all content sources that you have added.

Once you've added a content source, Egnyte will start scanning the added sources for the following issues:

  • Ransomware signatures
  • Suspicious logins
  • Unusual access
  • Public links (without a password)
  • External sharing (shares with standard users)
  • Open groups (sharing with all power users, all standard users, and all power and standard users)
  • Empty groups
  • Unused groups

Individual permissions detection (folders shared directly with users instead of groups) is disabled by default.

The admin who logged into the system, and any subsequent admins, will start to receive email alerts on medium and high-severity issues, specifically:

    • Ransomware signatures

    • Suspicious logins

    • Unusual access

    • Public links (without a password)

Platform Enterprise:  A Risk Score is calculated if you have at least one issue detected and/or sensitive content location based on your analysis rules and classification policies. The score is based on open issues and sensitive content detected in your content sources. Monitoring and reducing your risk score can help reduce the risk posed by data and how it is exposed and accessed across your content sources.

Platform Enterprise Lite:  A Risk Score is calculated if you have at least one issue detected based on your analysis rules. The score is based on open issues detected in your content sources.
