To provide autonomy to project teams and departments, Egnyte lets employees modify access to folders for which they are Owners. In the same way, Egnyte allows employees (Power Users) to create groups to manage access efficiently for multiple users. Administrators can remove this capability if they'd like to retain a higher level of control.
Change Setting
Admins can enable or disable the ability for the power users to create groups.
-
Navigate to Settings -> Configuration -> User Types & Roles.
-
Enable the toggle for can view Users & Groups in Settings. Enable the toggle for can create groups and click on Save changes.
If can view Users & Groups in Settings is disabled for the Power Users, can create groups option cannot be enabled.
Power users will then see the option to Add Group in Settings -> Users & Groups -> Groups.
In some cases, an individual user will have access to a folder, but will also be a member of a group that has access to the folder. For example, they might have Owner access individually, but be a member of a group that has Viewer access. In this case, the higher permission always applies, so the user will have Owner access to the folder.
